Well here we are. Adulthood is out on the 20th of June and we are only days away. It’s been quite a challenge for me getting this film made. After having so little support on the first one I wasn’t sure what would happen when I wrote the second. I knew there was interest but in this business there is no way of knowing if people are gonna like what you write. The truth is, not everyone has too.
You just need one, or a small group of people that do and believe in you and that’s what I got with the UK film council and Pathe. They not only supported me. But guided me to be the person to direct the film as well and it’s a better film for it…
Plus I told Adam, Femi, Red, and Madelyn that we were doing the second so if I didn’t get it done I was not only letting myself down but them as well, and that’s something that doesn’t work for me…. I don’t let people down… if I tell you something is going to happen… It’s going to happen.
So once I was directing how did I find it? It was tough, but I love a challenge. Not only do you have to make almost every single decision but you also have to please almost every actor while still getting what you want. All the while getting enough footage but keeping and pace so that the producers don’t get on your back.
My producers were cool though. George and Damian I owe a lot. This film could never have happened with out the fans so each and every one of you that come here and all the ones that don’t. I thank you all Hopefully now that we have done the Kidulthood to Adulthood story we can move on and start to make all sorts of different films.
Things I miss from this Film: My actors (until I work with them again) being on set, enjoying the feeling of watching this piece of work get made. The crew who deserve the biggest thanks. Sitting in the edit with my editor. The sound mix, the whole experience.
Things I won’t miss: early mornings. Actors that you give an opportunity to then all of a sudden team up with their new agents (Who you helped get them) Hire a personal publicist who they didn’t really need (because I was gonna look out for them) then refuse to do bits of publicity that would have only helped them and the movie. Nothing is perfect and someone always ruins a great thing.
Overall I would say that apart from the birth of my son, this has been the greatest thing that has happened to me and if I do nothing else ever, I will always be proud of Adulthood. But hopefully this is just the start of bigger and better things for all the other cast and crew as well as myself Everyone who has supported me and my films and everyone who hasn’t (You are just as important) thank you.

One thing i loved about these films is the fact that almost everyone can watch it. Teenagers can watch and relate to it cos thats how life is now days for alot of teens, and adults can watch it and get an insite to what there kids have to go through and why most teenagers could be turning out how they are. I think this was a very smart idea for a film and fully enjoyable. I'd recomend it to people and yes noel id like a number 3 =D lol.

I went to see the film yesterday (after I watched kidulthood on youtube - sorry Noel), I've gotta say, it blew me away, and I've been recommending it to others. Afterwards I checked out alot of the press reviews online.
It's sad how critics are prepared to fall overthemselves for trite middle class bs and SFX heavy disaster films, but fail to recognise local talent. (And funny how they never hold those films to the standards of 'authenticity' or moral responsibility by which ad/kidulthood were so quickly judged.)
By any standards these two films are among of the best that's come out of Britain in the last decade.
I think the way the films addressed not only race and class but also gender was particularly impressive. Domestic violence, rape and general mysogeny (as well as subtler stuff like in Claire's new relationship) were raised, all of which are more prevalent in this country than racism and knife crime, but barely get a look in - so props to Noel for bringing them up. They're normally either presented out of social context, or squashed by the race/class things.
Every performance was worthwhile. I noticed Adam Deacon's has been slated quite a bit, but I thought he did well to balance the sick/violent/angry and slapstick/comedic sides of his character and integrate them into a believable performance. That's not easy.
Sure it wasn't perfect (jay/posh bloke scene a bit OTT, an who'd try and get someone to stab someone without seeing their face), but it's a great, powerful film. Makes you think about where your life's going and that.

Sequal to Adulthood.
This is the best film i've seen. It's rare i see films that are so life like and with such a good story aswell. It would be a shame to end the story there because they were such good films. Please make another one =] We are all waiting...

There real, and should be a eye opener for the youngun's growing up.
There should be more real film's like this which show's the danger's and the hurt, loss and miserery in people's life's which is caused by gun's, knife's, bullying, gang's and so on.

Hi Noel, just had to say i loved Kidulthood thought it was amazing, but now Adulthood topped it!!.. the film was great all the twists and turns was so exciting.. i was so excited to learn that a sequel of Kidulthood was being released and couldnt wait to go and watch it at the cinema.. which i did on Saturday i cant stop talking about it to my friends, who all loved it too.. i really hope there is another film our relating to Kidulthood and Adulthood i would be over the moon if another one was to be made!!... and by the way i just have to say that you are absolutely gorgeous, soo stunning.... your other half is the luckiest woman in the WORLD!!!!

what can i say?! after seeing adulthood, im utterly speechless. you are an inspiration, you tell it how it is. kidulthood was a f***ing masterpiece, and adulthood is nothing less. ur opne of the best latest actors and directors. Wow,, all i can say is this film is mint. Its just a genuine basic film based on real life with no effects or anything like that. I love these kind of films where there true an basic haha, but this film aint basic if you get me. Is there going to be another 1 call it ,, FaTHERHOOD,, or BrOTHERHOOD!!

just seen adulthood ,wot a movie it touched my soul ,if it had been set in glasgow and sam was white it would have been the story of my life , i related to alot of wot sam was going through as i'v gone through it myself and came out the other end a better person ,i'm gonna recommend this movie to anyone and everyone , its defo gonna go down as one my fav movies of all time .Noel Clark is a genius and i hope to see more of his stuff soon .i would like to thank Noel for fighting to get this movie made it was awsome in so many ways .......thanks again Noel for making this movie

oh my flippin days ive just watched adulthood and to be honest i have looking forward to watching it since months ago when i seen the advert on the net. and im telling you now it was worth the wait :D but one thing i cant help but ask myself is "is there going to be another one?"
i hope you make some more films cuz i really enjoyed both kidulthood and adulthood so im sure i will enjoy more of your storylines:D

Just saw the movie and really liked it although two little bros kept laughing and talking all the way though it. Hope some of the message hits home. (Hope is sometimes all we have). Congrats on the marriage and the baby. One love. Keep up the good work.

i just came back from watching adulthood. I always used 2 think sequences are not as good as the first movie so i expected kidulthood 2 be beter but u proved me wrong. This movie is brilliant and very realistic, it deals with the problems of youths 2day which many teenagers can actually relate to. Am lookin forward 2 see another movie by you. By the way...u are sooooo hot

Just come back from seeing the film, and yet again after Kidulthood i was so impressed by the end. Once again you've represented the majority of youth today & hopefully inspired most to re-consider their choices in life. I was inspired and after reading through your work it is clear that you are extrememly talented & deserve all the credit you get. I was greatful to see a film which was altogether serious, hard-hitting and had tooo much jokes :),

hey, I just came back from seeing the film.
I rarely go to the cinema ( i am very busynow i am an"adult")so i am very choosy wen i watch a film at the cinema or even at home.,i liked the look of adulthood,tho i havent seen the first film,i really wanted to see it.
So my boyfriend and I went to see it this evening -its only the second time we have been to the cinema,we've only been 2gethr just 4 (lovely) months n the first film i picked for us to see was Bank Job...dire..so naturally i was worried cos i picked the film we were gonna see.
Tho at times it made me feel very "adult" (am early 30s)plus the majority of people watching the film (tho is was a late showing)were kids - i was pleased to see that it was appealing to all ages - cos sometimes is a danger to cater for one age target audience, i cant abide american teen films -..
ANYHOW...i'll get to the point..it was a great film, fresh,well acted,thought provoking,reflection of modern life in the uk..and i didnt get bored & wanna text my friends...wats the best is , i hope that this really really talented young writer/director/actor gets to do more film, cos hes propa. plus he's very attractive;-) peace.

What a fantastic film Adulthood is and very realistic to life in this day and age.It is even better than Kidulthood which was a great film too.Nuff Respect due to you Noel Clarke,hope people will watch this film and see the message you are trying to give.Keep up the great work and hope to see more great films from you.I also thought your little series on BBC3 was good too!
